Update needed!! Once again! I knew this would be a challenge.
Less than a month away - holy whoa. I am freaking out a bit. Not really in the sense that I am having regrets, but now I'm just anxious! Also, I've been trying to cram in things I have yet to do as a Seattlelite here, but given the weekend trips to Chicago, Pullman & San Fran, I have not had very much time!!!
With this - I'll be here 'til I go. This last month will be the month to check off things on my bucket list. This may grow - but these are my goals...
Go take a hike!
I have NEVER done this while living here! I did hike down in Portland one weekend, but never around the Seattle area. Shooting for this weekend maybe so I can reach the top of the mountain and scream a giant scream, as yesterday, I became the big 2-5. AH.
Visit the Seattle Library!
It's so close, I walk by it all the time, but have never stepped in! I shall do this soon. Maybe I'll rent a book.... meh most likely not. I'll probably take a picture.
Visit Benaroya Hall!
Another thing that's so close. Actually very close to the Library so I will most likely kill two birds with one stone. Belle and Sebastian played there last night, oh how I love them. Hopefully another show will come sweep in soon.
Happy Hour @ El Gaucho!
I have heard amazing things. Not too shabby on prices. Sunday and Monday it's all night too! Woo!!

Who am I kidding, there's many happy hours I must hit up!
Casualitas, Belltown
Tavern Law, Capital Hill
Hmm, I need some additions.
Seattle Underground Tour!
Yeah it's super touristy, but given the fact I didn't grow up here, I think it's about time I finally understand what went on before Seattle became Seattle. Late, but oh well. I still am curious.
Sky Dive!
I did this once in New Zealand and have been DYING to do it again! I think it's a perfect way to say See Ya! Thinking Snohomish area the week before my exit.
Get my Fortune told!
Corny, but they have all those little wierd places at Pike Place... and come on, I'm curious.
Visit Port Townshend or San Juans!
This may be a stretch as it's a little trip, but I've always wanted to see these places! Could be fun.
Sailing!
Is it too late?!
Take advantage of the Tommy Douglas restaurants!
- Dahlia, Lola, Palace, Seatown... I've done Ettas & Serious Pie and definitely was NOT disappointed.
Kayak Lake Union!
I wish I would have done this during the summer, but hey it may not be too late!
Visit the Noc Noc post night out!
Ha, ha... I've heard good things.
Picnic in the Park!
I like picnics...
A few more shows, obviously!!!
Lotus @ The Market 10/31
Gorillaz @ Key Arena 11/2
Ghostland Observatory @ SoDo 11/12
My Studio Apartment.
I never knew how much I could enjoy living alone until I stumbled upon this cozy little waterfront abode. I love everything about it. Belltown has treated me well while keeping its crazies out of this area I like to call Condo Land. Sculpture Park and I have become rather close and the ever-changing views I get to witness each day and night out my window are priceless. To those of you have come over for a visit, thanks. Glad you got to see it. Now I'll be taking it apart piece by piece. Soon I'll only be left with clothing and a bed. I signed the move out papers this week. Ah! This really is about to be goodbye!
Fremont.
The Showbox.
The Hate/Love Relationship between WAZZU & UW.
Weekend Escapes.
Pike Place Market.
Kerry Park.
Cherry Street Coffee House.
Seattle Summers.
Well there you have it. Whew that was rough. Alright, over and out. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!! I hope you get to do one of the things I mentioned above! :) I shall be headed East to Yakima for my very first friend wedding. Woo! Ciao!
Take risks. Follow your dreams. Opportunities will come your way throughout life... take them.
I think I'm going to give this a try. After two and a half years of living in Seattle, I have found I am completely obsessed with this city. What is there not to like here? So much beauty, such great people. I can truly see myself here forever... which scares me. Call this a quarter-century life crisis, or just trying to live life to the fullest, but I am in need of something new.
I survived the drastic move back in 2003 from Midwest Suburbia to the Logging Towns of the Pacific Northwest. I established a new life for myself out here in Washington, making friends that will last a lifetime at Wazzu. I had a life changing experience studying abroad in Australia & New Zealand. I migrated to the West Coast, starting my career in the fabulous Emerald City. And now... the time has come to make another drastic leap.
Maybe it's the stubborn & ambitious Gogarty genes leading this decision or maybe it's the footloose & fancy free Libra coming out, but I'm announcing it now: I'm moving to New York City! Concrete Jungle, East Coast - here I come!!!
I made my first trip out to NYC back in April 2009 to visit my dear friends from grade school, Aimee & Katie and my long lost travel partner from Down Under, Shaina. The trip was a blast and I'll never forget the overwhelming feeling I experienced while riding in the taxi towards the downtown area of Manhattan. The skyline was never ending and my heart raced with excitement. This was the same feeling I experienced during my recent trip to New York this August, however the excitement went through the roof. As I stepped off the plane, I realized I was returning to this city for a different purpose... to see if I could live there.
After the five day excursion visiting with the girls, spending time picking the brains of locals, and grilling my other dear friend Ricky who made the West to East coast jump, I found this could really be a good fit for me. The city of opportunity, the city that never sleeps, excitement around every corner! How could one ever get bored in this place? Aside from the fact that this city will most likely feed my addiction to live music more than I could ever imagine, and maybe mix in some celebrity encounters here and there to keep me on my toes... I am looking to this move as a career step, as I'm very ready to advance to that next place and I have one of those feelings, this will be it.
What have I to lose? You Only Live Once.
There's many little details here and there about this decision and I'll be happy to fill anyone in. The exit date is set for Mid-November, which is approaching very quickly. I know it's close to the upcoming holidays but I plan on making it work where I can come home for Christmas. What I'd like to focus on right now is letting you all know how much I have enjoyed my time here in Washington with all of you whom I've formed such great ties with. This last year in Seattle has honestly been one of the best years in my life yet. I owe it all to those who have helped make it memorable. I will truly miss everyone.
So, aside from this blog being a way to update you all once I move West to East, I want to throw some shout outs along the way to why I'll miss it here. I'll be back round again, for sure. But until then - you all know you have someone to visit over in New York City. Manhattan awaits your stay! :)
